Absolutely, but, you know, the mood changes.
If you say, “were promoted.”, it’s just a flat statement of fact.
But if you use “got promoted”, it’s more lively.

Yeah, like you were working so hard, and then you got promoted.
2). My bicycle got stolen yesterday.
3). She is believed to be the oldest person in the world.

So, Chris, can you use think instead of believe here?

I turned round, and this lady said to me,

So we did that, while we were waiting to go through.
