whereは後続の節の中で『副詞』として働く ＝「そこに」「そこで」
後ろの空所が場所であることを示すだけ

Yokohama is the city where I was born.
横浜は私が生まれた街です。
I was born 『in the city』.→ where は場所を表す副詞の役割

whichを使う場合は『in』が必要
Yokohama is the city which I was born in.
which は関係代名詞。名詞を組み合わせるから in が必要。

whereは場所を表す副詞
＝ 先行詞 there (そこで)、at the bus stop (バス停で)、on the street(道で)、in the office (オフィスで)
This is the park where I go jogging every morning.
ここはわたしが毎朝ジョギングをしている公園です。
後続節で where は in the park（場所）を示している

関係副詞の where はcity、office(会社)などの場所以外にも、
case (場合) 、situation (状況)、circumstance (状況)など、比喩的な「場所」にも使うことができる。

また先行詞が -where がつくもの(everywhereなど)や place である場合、
関係節修飾にわざわざ where を用いる必要がない ＝ 決まり文句となっている
My sister followed me everywhere that I went. （※that がなくてもよい）
妹はわたしが行くところどこにでもついてきた。

Think of− → Imagine− でも可
in trouble 状況の中にいる『in』がベスト
